St. Stephen Catholic School, along with other schools in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, uses the TerraNova achievement test to assess our students', classes', and school's performance and growth in core subject areas. We use the data from this and other assessments to guide instruction and evaluate our curriculum. The charts shown here draw from our most recent TerraNova scores taken in March of 2025.
The students and teachers at SSCS should be very proud of their achievements this year. Not only are we showing growth in the areas we have been targeting, but when compared to other Catholic schools in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, we shine!
At. St. Stephen Catholic School, we believe in using data to help guide decisions in curriculum and instruction. One example is our adoption of Wit & Wisdom from Great Minds as our English Language Arts program for Kindergarten through eighth grade. This chart shows our reading and vocabulary growth as a school since we began the program's implementation during the 2018-2019 school year.
Four years ago, St. Stephen Catholic School conducted a math self-study that helped us identify areas of strength and areas for improvement. Throughout the following two years, teachers participated in targeted professional development and one-on-one coaching, and the results speak for themselves.
